1. What We Collect

  • Account and authentication data (for example, user identifier and sign-in metadata from Sign in with Apple and Supabase Auth).
  • Profile data you provide (for example, name, city/state/country, avatar image, profile visibility preferences).
  • Location data, including GPS coordinates and place details from geocoding, when location features are enabled.
  • Workout and fitness activity data, including run metrics and route/path data.
  • HealthKit data you authorize (such as heart rate, active energy, distance, steps, and related workout information).
  • Social and community data (for example, direct messages, group run participation, trail posts, reports, and user blocking records).
  • Device tokens and app diagnostics used to support notifications, security, and reliability.

2. Authentication Providers

If you use Sign in with Apple, authentication is handled by Apple and Supabase Authentication.

Tribe does not store your Apple password. We store account records needed to operate sign-in and account features.

3. How We Use Information

  • Provide core features (profile, runs, maps, community trails, messaging, group runs, and account management).
  • Personalize your experience.
  • Maintain security, prevent abuse, and enforce community rules.
  • Send service notifications you opt into.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

4. Sharing

We do not sell your personal information.

We share information with service providers needed to operate the App, including Supabase (authentication, database, storage, and backend functions) and Apple platform services (such as APNs, HealthKit, Maps, and Calendar integrations when you use related features).

We may disclose information where required by law, legal process, or to protect users and the service.

5. Public / Social Features

If you enable public activity or use community features, content such as selected profile details, recent activity, trail posts, and messages may be visible to other users based on product settings.

You can adjust available visibility settings in the App.

6. Location

If you grant location permission, Tribe may use precise location to support run tracking, route features, and location-based experiences.

Some features may use location while the app is active and, where applicable, during background run sessions. You can change location permissions in iOS Settings at any time.

7. Health Data

Health data access is controlled by Apple Health permissions. Tribe only reads or writes HealthKit data categories that you authorize.

You can revoke Health access at any time in the Health app or iOS Settings.

8. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the App, maintain security, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations.

Retention periods can vary by data type, account status, and legal requirements.

9. Your Choices

  • Update profile details in the App.
  • Toggle public activity and notifications.
  • Manage permission access (location, Health, camera/photos, notifications, calendar, motion) in iOS Settings.
  • Delete your account from within the App (which initiates deletion of associated app account data and backend authentication records).

10. Account Deletion

When you delete your account, we initiate deletion of your account data from our backend systems.

Certain limited records may be retained where required for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or operational backup purposes.

11. Security

We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

12. Children

Tribe is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material updates will be reflected by a revised "Last updated" date.
